There is a need, perhaps especially in times like these,
for places of quietness. Places where people can re-connect with their
dreams. Places where the therapeutic nature of beauty may be
re-discovered.
Light Morning, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest
Virginia, grew out of a deep recognition of this need for renewal.
People come here—for several days, or weeks, or months—in order to slow
down. To move more fully into the moment. To learn to listen (and
respond) to the promptings of their heart.
Light Morning is also a small intentional community. Since our
arrival here in 1974, we have been exploring the following beliefs—that
a simple lifestyle helps us live close to the Earth; that the Earth
itself is a living creature; that we, as a species, are ripening into an
awareness that we co-create our personal and world circumstances;
and that a new kind of family can greatly assist in this ripening. We
see our daily life as the proving ground for these hypotheses.
